19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev secured his maiden championship for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of the previous year.

Success also signifies he has secured 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, comprising in Halle in the past months.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players swapped breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional title, took control to push for a decider.

Moutet rescued four early-game chances in a tight third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner secured the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
